What are Queries?
Queries, in genealogical publications, have traditionally been similar to classified ads. They are short paragraphs, with specific details about a person or family, usually complete with a specific question or "query" about that person or family. These days, queries are published in magazines, newsletters, journals, newspapers, e-mail mailing lists and on web sites. The queries found here on the TPCGS web site are submitted by members and non-members who have research in this area of the world. The queries submitted are published in the society's quarterly and on this web site. If you are looking for research help besides this type of query, see the following pages for further options:

Please write to the mailing address or e-mail address given for the individual who posted the query in each section. Please mention that you found the query on this TPCGS web site.

To Submit Queries:

Any society member may submit queries for publication in The Newsletter and on the society's web site. Non-members who are doing research in the Tacoma-Pierce County area prior to 1930 may send queries which will be published at the discretion of the Queries Editor. I am researching the MASOW surname in the Washington and Oregon areas. My g-grandmother's family immigrated from Germany in the 1870's or 80's and settled in Michigan, Oregon and Washington. I have lots of info and would share with those interested.

In 1919/1920 Irving and Nellie McCOY moved to Enumclaw to operate a dairy farm. Irving's bro Herbert, fa Harvey and mo Lizzie McCOY also lived in the area. Farm was next to friend "Iver" whose wife was Edith. Would like to contact desc of these friends and of fam named XERXA.

Seeking more info on Sidney Dundas, shot in 1907. He owned a hotel in Tacoma and was shot by a man who had been crossed in love and who went on to shoot several other people. If anyone can supply additional details, I would be most grateful.

Seeking info on Arthur (Art) LaPorte, who left Bay City MI in the 1940s and moved to WA leaving behind a wife and two sons now deceased. He possibly had something to do with the apple industry in WA and may have married and raised another family while in that state. There is no record of him in the Social Security death index.

Schuyler OPP in a will dated 15 June 1911 allocated shares of the firm March McCandlass Co., Tacoma, WA. A bachelor lawyer, Schuyler was b in Muncy and after spending time in other states returned there and d ca 1913. What was this firm involved in? Any help would be appreciated.

Seeking information on Albert and Jennie (LINDHOLM) ULRICH who m at Tacoma in 1901at the 6th St. Baptist Church and had in Tacoma, Lillian (b 1903) and Allen (b Sept 1904). Jennie (b where?) was probably related to a Hattie LINDHOLM. She d in 1907, location unknown. Albert was from Stillwater/St. Paul, MN, and worked for the railroad. Any help appreciated.

Seeking info regarding Harry (McKANNA?), son of Verna P. KENNEDY and Blaine E. McKANNA. Verna was the dau of James J. KENNEDY (b 1855 WA Terr) and Angelina Lavina ___ (b 1851, IL, d at Grays Harbor in 1920s). They m in 1887 and had Clara M. (1887), Edward L. (1878), Verna P. (1890) and Hattie (1895). Verna m Blaine McKANNA ca 1910/11; they div several years after Harry was b in Seattle in 1912. Harry would be a previously unknown half-bro to my husb Blaine (b 1924).

Need info on ch, mar, and birth locations of Levi WARREN and Sarah DEAN. They were b ca 1800, place unknown; they d in 1866 in Blackriver Falls, Jackson, WI. They migrated through New York and Michigan before settling in Wisconsin.

Dr. John Waldo SNOKE, son of Adam Jonas SNOKE and Ella WALDO SNOKE (who res the remainder of their lives in Seattle, WA), was b 13 Mar 1878 at Princeton, IN, and attended the University of WA Medical School. He m Helene NEILSON (b when and where?) whom he met in San Francisco prior to his service in the hospital corps in the Phillipines during the Spanish-American War. John SNOKE died 12 Apr 1935 in Palo Alto area of CA and according to his obit in a Tacoma, WA, newspaper, he was Asst. Supt. of Western State Hospital for several years prior to 1929 when he moved to CA. Known ch are: Barbara who worked at the U of San Francisco and Albert SNOKE, Jr., a doctor who worked at Stanford Hospital. Would like ch birthdates and info on any other ch.

John SNOKE (above) grew up in Seattle with two half sisters: Florence Rupert SNOKE who m Henry Clark EWING August, 1896 (where?), and Lilian (aka) Ellan Pier SNOKE, a teacher who m Wilmon O. TUCKER October, 1897, (where?).
