Veteran’s Mini-Biography Project

Each year since 2021, dedicated authors from the TPCGS have delved into the Veterans Graves in Pierce County, WA online database and crafted mini-biographies for The Researcher, breathing new life into the names. The goal is to provide researchers and genealogists with better starting points as they explore their family or client histories. Those narratives, although short, reflect the Society’s ongoing commitment to honor those who have served, ensuring their sacrifices are remembered and their stories told. Fascinating tales are often uncovered in the process.

This is a long-term project that may take several lifetimes to complete. Twenty-six veteran mini-biographies have been published in The Researcher and are now available to read on the website. With 2,811 veteran names in the database, this represents only 1% of all burials listed. However, the value of the information in these stories is incalculable to researchers who are flummoxed.

Completed mini-biographies are posted in this online database for each applicable veteran. A list of these biographies can be seen here.

TPCGS has scanned some of the original 1939 WPA data input cards. Those are also posted in this database for each applicable veteran.
